Terre Haute, IN - William R. Mitchell, 79, of Terre Haute passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born May 19, 1945 in Atlanta, GA to Francis H. Mitchell, Sr. and Dorothy H. Peteet Mitchell.

Survivors include his brothers, Francis Mitchell, Jr. and Thomas Mitchell; nephews Jim Mitchell and Francis H. Mitchell III; and great niece, Sarah; and great nephews, Jonny, Austin, Kaden, Logan, and Alex. He was preceded in death by his parents.

William was in banking and later was a greeter at Meijer. He was a lover of fine music and the Terre Haute Symphony.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Westminster Village. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Visitation will also be Friday, May 16, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Kerr Funeral Home in Lexington, KY followed by services at Good Shepherd Church at 1:00 P.M. and followed by burial at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Terre Haute Symphony or Good Shepherd Church.
