William 'Bill' Eugene Enstrom
JASONVILLE - William "Bill" Eugene Enstrom, 88, of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 in Cobblestone Crossings Health Campus of Terre Haute. Bill suffered recently from dementia and a short battle with cancer.
Bill was born May 11, 1931 in Hymera, to Harry "Butch" Enstrom Sr. and Cealia (Bockman) Enstrom.
A 1949 graduate of Hymera High School, Bill joined the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to the maintenance squadron of Marine Air Group 33 in Korea. Bill married Janice Ketchem December 24, 1955.
Bill retired from the United States Penitentiary in Terre Haute where he worked 26 years. He was a member of the NRA and American Legion, and a past member of B.P.O. Elks and VFW.
Bill enjoyed being on the go, working with his hands, and helping others get a job done. He also loved spending time gardening, visiting friends and family, genealogy, and eating lots of ice cream. He was extremely patriotic and loved his country. He was a proud Marine and embodied the motto "Semper Fidelis."
Bill was intuitive and attentive. He had a quick wit, a contagious laugh, and a dangerous sense of humor. His compassion for people and animals ran deep and he remained a gentleman until the very end. He was an intelligent man and expressive storyteller who loved to share his life and stories with others.
Survivors include son William Thomas Enstrom (Nancy), Jasonville; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bibbs, Hanover; brother, James Enstrom, Hymera; sister, Jane Mills, Anderson; granddaughter, Erika Justice (Caleb), Terre Haute; grandsons, Alexander Enstrom, West Lafayette, and Ian Enstrom, Hanover; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished friend, Betty Peeler, Sullivan.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Janice; son, Jan Richard; sisters, Myrtle Runyan and Linda Stewart; and brothers, Harry "Tom" Enstrom Jr., John "Buck" Enstrom, Richard "Sonny" Enstrom, and Gary "Skip" Enstrom.
Services will be at Cox Funeral Home in Jasonville. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, February 19. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Reverend Mike Rotman officiating. Interment will follow in K of P Cemetery, Hymera.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marines' Toys for Tots Program or the Alzheimer's Association to fund dementia research.

Bill was an inspiration and mentor for young employees to emulate at the Federal Penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana. He may be gone to be with our Creator, but not forgotten in our hearts.
