Brazil, Indiana - BRAZIL - William and Joanne Glidden of Brazil both passed away, Joanne on September 4, 2025, at 10:50pm at the Gibson Family Center in Terre Haute, and William on September 7, 2025, at 2:23pm also at the Gibson Center. They were married for 72 years.

Joanne, age 89, was born October 6, 1935, in Martinsville, IN, the daughter of Ralph Anderson and Muriel Sheeks Anderson. She and Bill were married June 21, 1953, and together they raised five children.

Bill, age 90, was born February 11, 1935, in Coal City, IN. As a young man, Bill started working in sales. Early on he worked as Silverstein's Furniture in Terre Haute, and then at Carrico where he was the manager. He and Joanne founded Glidden's at 929 Wabash in 1970. She worked as the bookkeeper at the store and together they did a successful business, now located at 3631 E. Wabash.

Bill and Joanne did most everything together. They were members of the Elks, the Sycamore Club, and followers of NHR Drag racing. They enjoyed motorhome travel and had a home in the Bradenton area of Florida for many years. They followed ISU Basketball and traveled to all the games during the Larry Bird years.

Survivors include their children, Tony Glidden (Cathy), Roy Glidden, Cathy Cunningham (Vic), Kristi Hitchmough (Randy), Kelly Hopper (Greg); grandchildren, Brandi Keith, Cheryl Telligman, Any Telligman, Carie Telligman, Avery Telligman (Jessica), Roy Glidden, Jr. (Tina), Nicholas Glidden, Jessica Nuckols (Travis), Aaron Glidden (Robin), Amy Cunningham, Angie Okes (Brad), Justin Hitchmough (Samantha), Roger Hopper (Julie), Andrew, Kipp (Maidson); many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include Richard Glidden (Barbara), Larry Glidden (Madelyn), Patricia Smith, Diane Funkhouser (Steve), Lois Glidden, and Etta Glidden.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Anderson, Jack Anderson, and David Anderson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ann Sipe; brothers, Bob Glidden and Jack Glidden. They also had a great-grandson, David Shane Keith, who passed away.

Funeral services for both Bill and Joanne will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, at 2:00pm with Pastor Ben Burdick officiating, at the Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, IN. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00am-2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed toward the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department.
