Lewis, IN - LEWIS - Wilbur Leone Copeland, 80, of Lewis passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025.
He was born on November 27, 1944, to Delbert Copeland and Mary McKee Copeland. Leone proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii from 1965-1967 and served as a Medic Assistant. Leone married his beloved wife, Linda Thompson Copeland, on August 28, 1965. They shared 57 years together.
He was a member of Local 1410 United Mine Workers of American and retired from Peabody Coal after 22 years of service. Leone loved fishing, golf, water skiing, roller skating, and anything outdoor He was very active and in great shape, roller skating even in recent years. He was an active member and an elder in the Lewis Seventh-day Adventist Church. Leone loved being with his family and adored his church family. He will be missed by so many who loved him.
Leone is survived by his son Mark Copeland (Kipper); daughter Tammy Null (Frank); grandchildren Brady (Alainna), Trevor (Ashley), Ethan (Portia), Kamon (Mikayla), Roman, and Lincoln (Bella); great-grandchildren Zander, Ivy, Kira, Atlas, Bentley, and Jackson; siblings Thomas Cope- land, Helen Budd, Mary Fry, Debbie Cottom, and Terri Kaho; and his beloved dog Buddy. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda who passed away January 13, 2022, and his brother Larry Copeland.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2025, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ken Olin will officiate. Burial follows at Prairie Creek West Lawn.
