Center Point, Indiana - CENTER POINT - Verna Rose Davis, 73, took her last breath surrounded by her loving family and her first breath with her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2025. Verna fought a long and hard battle with cancer and won by getting her new body in Heaven.

Verna was born to the late Vernon Legg and Dorothy (Stewart) Legg Adams on February 5, 1952 in Terre Haute. She was a 1970 graduate of Garfield High School, where she met many lifelong friends. Verna graduated from Lincoln Christian College in 1974 where she met the love of her life, Doug Davis, whom she married on December 16, 1972. Together, Doug and Verna raised two incredible children, Tricia and Matt.

Verna was a lifelong educator. Throughout her career she taught at Ivy Tech and St. Paul Catholic High School in Terre Haute. Her main ministry was through her speaking and writing which even took her to Honduras and too many states to count. She loved to sing and play the saxophone especially for worship services. Verna was an avid reader and always had at least one book with her. She thoroughly enjoyed writing, including her weekly column, "The Joy Lady" which was published in The Brazil Times, Terre Haute Tribune-Star, The Anderson Herald, and The Daily Clintonian.

Faith was very important to Verna, having attended church her whole life. She was a member of Center Point Church in Center Point, Indiana and an active member of the El Shaddai Emmaus Community in the Wabash Valley Area. She accompanied her husband in serving the Lord in ministry for over 50 years.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Bob Adams; and a sister, Diana Leslie; as well as many extended family members.

Verna is survived by her husband Doug; two children, Tricia Kortea (Ron) and Matt Davis (Jennifer); four grandchildren on whom she loved to dote, Elizabeth, Chris, Lucas, and Melanie; and numerous extended family members.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 23 from 1-3 P.M. at Center Point Church Family Life Center, 208 South Cherry St. in Center Point. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Mark Gallagher, will begin at 3 P.M. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. To post a note of condolence, please visit:
