St Petersburg, Florida - Susan was born in Boston Ma to Robert and Janice Mahalek October 21 and subsequently moved to Terre Haute with her father where he was from, after her mother died shortly after birth to live with John and Gertrude (Mary) Mahalek.

She lived there and attended St Patrick RC School and subsequently graduating from IU. She left to see what life had to offer.

She went to NY city where she worked temp jobs, eventually left to teach US students along with local children in Bahrain.

After a short stint there she traveled Europe and eventually came back stateside. She lived in Ithaca NY while pursuing a Master's Degree in Science from Ithaca College, graduating in 1977.

Finally moving to Florida, she plied her education with various schools and finally became a Medical Transcriptionist until retirement.

Susan was a lifelong advocate for dogs and cats and adopted many during her life time.

She is survived by her husband Robert A Combes and his children. Her placement will be in St Petersburg FL where she wanted to live out her life.

The community to which she was known and adopted family will forever be grateful for having known her and loved her.

Rest in peace my darling.
