TERRE HAUTE - Stephen Michael Lewis, age 69, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

Stephen was born in Clinton to James and Naomi Lewis.

He was a graduate of Garfield High School class of 1971, and served the Terre Haute community as a Police Officer for over 30 years. After retirement, he served the Vigo County community as a Process Server. Prior to his law enforcement career, Stephen was a welder and pipe fitter.

Stephen was a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Past Master Mason of F. & AM Lodge 86, Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Lodge 43.

He was an avid outdoorsman; boating, camping, and riding motorcycles were some of his favorite activities with his family.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara; and two brothers, Christopher and James Patrick.

Surviving are his son, Matthew Lewis; five grandchildren, Gage, Daniel, Natalie, Aurora and Ariel; a brother, John Lewis; and a sister, Nancy Hay and husband John; nephews, Travis, Aaron, Ryan; nieces, Audrea and Brianna; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1 PM at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with Honors to Follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
