St. Mary of the Woods, IN - ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS - Sister Marie Grace Molloy, age 94, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, died July 12, 2026, at 6:10 pm at Providence Health Care. She was born June 12, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN to John and Grace Wagner Molloy and was baptized Mary Ellen.

Sister entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Feb. 2, 1951 and professed Final Vows August 15, 1958. She earned a bachelor's degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master's degrees from Indiana State University. Of her 75 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered for 48 years in schools in Indiana and Illinois. Retiring from classroom teaching in 2001, she became a tutor for Dyslexia of Indiana for nine years. During these years, she served as coordinator of the alumnae associations of St. Agnes and St. John Academies, both of Indianapolis, continuing this work until 2022. In 2010, she moved to the Motherhouse and gave 15 years as assistant archivist for the Congregation. If any sister needed historical information, she called Sr. Marie Grace who almost always could find what was wanted. Sister's warm and loving presence will be greatly missed.

Sister Marie Grace is preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Crayton and Gertrude Andrews, and three brothers, Patrick, John, and Michael Molloy. The wake is Tuesday, July 21 at 3:30 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with the wake service at 4:30 p.m. The wake continues on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Terry Johnson presiding. Burial is in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence. DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted with arrangements.
