Franklin, Indiana - Shirley J. (Fields) Shively, 91, of Franklin, IN, attained the desire of her heart and went home to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with her beloved husband, Jesse, on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community in Franklin, IN.

She was born August 21, 1934, in Fulton County, IN, to Cecil and Lula Mae (Morrett) Fields. Shirley married Jesse E. Shively on June 9, 1957, in Grass Creek, IN. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2022. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and love for others.

Shirley was a graduate of Wayne Township Schools in Grass Creek, IN, and a 1957 graduate of Purdue University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economic Vocational Education.

Throughout her life, Shirley faithfully served others in both her work and personal life. For many year, she worked as an administrative assistant for Youth for Christ Campus Life. Prior to that, she also served as a residence hall food service advisor at Purdue University and Iowa State University. Shirley had a servant's heart and was known for her kindness, generosity, and selflessness, often placing the needs and happiness of others before her own.

A devoted Christian, Shirley and Jesse were longtime members of Memorial United Methodist Church in Terre Haute, IN. Upon moving to Franklin, they became members of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, IN. Her faith in the Lord guided her life and was evident in the love and care she showed to family, friends, and everyone blessed to know her. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and unwavering love.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen L. Spangler (Brad) of Broken Arrow, OK; sons, Kent A. Shively (Trisha) of Kokomo, IN, and Kevin D. Shively of Terre Haute, IN; seven grandchildren, Logan A. Shively of Terre Haute, IN, Andrew M. Shively of Greentown, IN, Lauren E. Shively of Gypsum, CO, Hannah G. Diaz-Lapham of Omaha, NE, Luke J. Spangler of Kalamazoo, MI, Lilly Mathis of Indianapolis, IN, and Dallas D. Shively of Terre Haute, IN; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roger Fields of Grass Creek, IN, Sandra Redmaster of Fort Wayne, IN, and Richard (Sharon) Fields of Minneapolis, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse; and her brother, John Fields.

Pastor Joe Sanford will conduct a service on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 1300 East Adams Street, Franklin, IN 46131.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Wright Chapel at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community, 1070 West Jefferson Street, Franklin, IN, and will continue Thursday from 1:30 PM until the time of service at Grace United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
