Sheryl Ann Davis Obituary

Sheryl Ann Davis returned to her heavenly home at the age of 69 on April 10, 2019, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Sheryl was born to the late Mary L. Hutchinson and Emmitt Hatchet, in Kansas City, Mo., on August 2, 1949. She attended Gerstmeyer High School in 1964. Sheryl was blessed with a large and loving family. She raised three children of her own and helped raise many others throughout the community in which she resided with patience, discipline and humility. She taught them to love, hard work, perseverance and more importantly how to be strong-willed.

Sheryl was a homemaker who was known for always making something out of nothing. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, fishing, singing and getting everyone together for the holidays.

Sheryl was an educator at heart. She was kind, outspoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

Sheryl leaves behind three children, Tammy L. Towles of Terre Haute; and Tracy M. Sutton-Sibande and Phillip E. Davis, both of Indianapolis; her godson, Larry Murphy of Terre Haute; 7 grandchildren, Sherlyn Towles of Terre Haute; Phillip Davis Jr., Adaleena Sibande, Joi Sibande, Nike Sibande and Robert Ellington, all of Indianapolis; and Kristopher Davis of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Linda Brooks of Terre Haute; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind special friends, Mary-Lou Nelson and Gary Wilford.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marsha Davis; goddaughter, Janet Murphy; and her closest friend, Mozine Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at Second Missionary Baptist Church on 1400 Oak in Terre Haute, Ind. Bishop Quentin Isabelle will be officiating. Services will start at 11 a.m. with a repast to follow for the family only.

Special thanks to Russell Funeral Home and Cowan and Cook Florist for all of the arrangements.
