Sarah E. Mattingly, 78, of Paris, Ill., passed away at 3 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Edgar County, Ill., the daughter of the late Howard Lee and Merriett Koontz Day. She married Robert E. Mattingly on Feb. 21, 1981, in Paris. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Altar Society.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Ronald Hilt as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home with the rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Bob; her children, Sherry (John) Bowman of Albany, Ga., Diana Lynn Melton of Redmon and Robert E. Morecraft Sr. of Paris; her grandchildren, Jeremy Thomey, B.J. Thomey, Christopher Kearce, Jamacia White, Samantha White, John F. White II, Amea Morecraft, Robert E. Morecraft Jr. and Damon Morecraft; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Barbara Jean (Don) Allison of Royal Center, Ind., and Howard Lee (Rita) Day Jr. of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and her beloved pet, Earl.
