Russell 'Gene' Kirkman Obituary
ROSEDALE - Russell "Gene" Kirkman, 65, of Rosedale, died at 5:24 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill. He had worked for the Railroad, Vigo County Highway Department and Ivy Hill in Terre Haute. He was born Sept. 4, 1951, in Bedford, to the late Robert D. Kirkman and Mary Goodwin Kirkman.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Ruth Ann Edington Kirkman, whom he married April 20, 1984, in Terre Haute; one daughter, Gina (Michael) McVey of Brazil; two sons, Charles Craft of Aurora, Ky., and Curtis Craft of New Castle; one brother, Phillip Kirkman of Terre Haute; two sisters, Linda Stoops of Florida and Brenda Cottrell of Terre Haute; several grandchildren including, Paige Ross, Payton Patton and Tylor Patton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two children, Christopher Craft and Sue Ann Craft; two brothers, Robert E. and Terry L. Kirkman. He was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Rosedale Christian Fellowship Church and enjoyed deer hunting.
Services will be 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with visitation from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday.
