Ronald "Joe" Mock, 72, of rural Dana passed away at 8:52 p.m. EST Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 21, 1946 in Clinton, the son of the late George Dewey and Opal G. (Trosper) Mock.
Joe married Geri D. Lewis on Dec. 7, 1968 at the Newport United Methodist Church. She survives.
Other survivors include his children: Leslie (Greg) Goode of Terre Haute; Ryan Mock of Dana and Erin (Shane) Johnson of Cayuga; five grandchildren: Jackson Goode; Addison Mock; Garrett, Callan and Cambry Johnson.
Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Mock.
Joe was a retired operator from Eli Lilly. A veteran of the United States Army, Joe was a member of the Newport American Legion Post 184 and Newport Lions Club. He attended the Dana Community Bible Church in Dana. Joe was a 1964 graduate of Newport High School. He enjoyed traveling, yard work, spending time outdoors, watching college basketball, especially Indiana and Butler University, NASCAR and working the annual Newport Hill climb. Most of all, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. EST Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Dana Community Bible Church with Pastor Marvin Miller officiating. Burial with honors will be at Thomas Cemetery in Newport. Visitation will be noon EST Saturday until time of services at the church. The family requests contributions to the Dana Community Bible Church, Newport American Legion Post 184 or Newport Lions Club.
