Rita "Joan" (Cooprider) Everwine, 91, of Clay City, IN passed away at 7:17 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025 in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, IN.
She was born January 4, 1934 in Greene County, IN to Chester Cooprider and Elizabeth (Blanton) Cooprider.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Dane Everwine of Clay City, IN who she married on November 22, 1972; daughters, Rita Duncan of Linton, IN, Jackie Deschamp (Terry) of Jasonville, IN, Margie Hudson (Doug) of Jasonville, IN; sons, Greg Everwine (Leellen) of Texas, Tim Everwine (Jenny) of Texas; grandchildren, Sara Richmond (Sam Tincher), Doug Duncan (Mary), Jennifer Norris (Todd), Joni Cazee (Brent), Ryan Hudson (Megan), Danielle Barber (Brian), Amy Singleterry (Brian), Kathrine Everwine, Kristine Everwine; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ruth Green of Worthington, IN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Cooprider of Linton, IN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, Andrew Duke, Daric Pounds; sister, Ilene Duncan; brother, Wendall Cooprider.
Joan was a member of Jasonville Assembly of God Church. She loved to cook and bake and enjoyed working puzzles and being out in her flowers. Joan loved her family and spending time with them. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN. Visitation is scheduled from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 8, 2025 at the funeral home, and 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday, May 9, 2025 with services at 1 P.M. with Pastor Phoebe Burch officiating.
Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Jasonville, IN.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joan to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
