BRAZIL - Richard "Dick" Broady, 87, passed away Sunday March 25, 2018, with his family at his side at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born on Jan. 22, 1931, in Horse Cave, Ky., to the late Shelby and Lola (Delp) Broady. Dick graduated from Montezuma High School in 1949, and later married Mary Taylor on Oct. 8, 1955. He retired from Hercules as a shipping supervisor. Dick and Mary opened and operated It's a Small World Daycare for many years, providing award winning child care to many families in the area. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Brazil.

Richard enjoyed watching sports, especially Indiana University basketball, and loved traveling to watch his children and grandchildren participate. He enjoyed caring for animals, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Broady; daughter, Paula Jo Broady; and brother, Kenny Broady.

Survivors include sons, Mark (Kathleen) Broady of Carmel, Michael (Tammie) Broady of Brazil; sister, Ruth (Jim) Border, New Paris, Ohio; sister-in-law, June Broady of Missouri; grandchildren, Ashley (Steven) Draheim, Austin (Sara) Broady, Adam (Kara) Broady, Alex Broady, Tyler (Courtney) Broady and Tessa Jo (Trent) Stearley; great-grandchildren, Gannon Stearley, Renlee Stearley, Hadley Broady, Hayden Broady, Reese Draheim and Brooks Draheim; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, with Pastor Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. The family will accept friends for visitation on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay County Humane Society.
