Phyllis Ruth Lubbehusen Obituary

Terre Haute, IN - Phyllis Ruth Lubbehusen, 93, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at The Commons of Honey Creek.

She was born January 26, 1933, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Evelyn Meek Burkeybyle and Emory Burkeybyle. She married the love of her life, Arthur Lubbehusen, in 1962.

Phyllis worked at Bell Telephone, Roots Department Store, and later for the Sisters of Providence. She was a dedicated volunteer for 35 years at Fowler Park. Along with her friend Mary Street, she helped establish the Christmas Walk and Pancake Breakfast and volunteered for many years during Pioneer Days. Throughout her life, she generously volunteered her time in many other community efforts.

She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her many friends and family members, for whom she was deeply grateful.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Lubbehusen (Peggy) and Ron Lubbehusen (Paige Wilson); four grandchildren, Maggie, Mason, Morgan, and Ryan; nephews Tony Burkeybyle, Dennis Arterburn, and Terry Burkeybyle; and a special niece, Navi Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Lubbehusen; brothers Chester, Robert, and twin brother Phillip Burkeybyle; sister Doris Arterburn; stepbrother Wayne Burkeybyle; nephew Todd Burkeybyle; and niece Vickie Garcia.

Cremation has been entrusted to DeBaun Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be made at:
