Oscar Thomas Stinson Obituary
Oscar Thomas Stinson, age 90, of Casey, Illinois, formerly of Fairbanks, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, Illinois. He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Casey, Illinois, the son of Thomas Aaron Stinson and Nettie Rienbolt Stinson.
On Aug. 12, 1950, he married Margaret Eileen Grubb in Martinsville, Illinois. She passed away on July 15, 2008, after 57 years of marriage.
Survivors include his son, Carroll Stinson and wife Ilene of Casey, Illinois; sister, Norma Butcher of Casey, Illinois; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Stinson; sisters, Irene Whitling, Thelma Orrell, Helen Updegraff and Mary Murphy; and granddaughter, Katie Stinson.
Oscar was a 1948 graduate of Casey High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Casey VFW. Oscar retired after working many years for W.L. Dillier Oil Co. He was a master at working jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at the Markwell Funeral Home, with Mr. David Hickox officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, Illinois.
Memorial donations may be made to Casey VFW, American Heart Association or donor's choice.
