Nora L. Dowers, 79, of Cayuga, passed away at 9:20 p.m. CST Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

She was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Cayuga, Indiana, the daughter of the late Doc Wallace and Waunetta L. (White) Pearson.

Nora married Clifford E. Dowers on Sept. 21, 1956, in Cayuga, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, Chris Allen (Tamie) Dowers of Hillsdale, Indiana, and Scott Wallace (Linda) Darby-Dowers of Danville, Illinois; two granddaughters, Kacie Jo (Luke) Adams of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Madison Claire Dowers of Bloomington, Indiana; and one sister, Mary Sue Bennett of Terre Haute, Indiana.

Nora owned and operated Nora's Beauty Shop in Cayuga from 1956 through 2015. She was a 1955 graduate of Cayuga High School. Nora enjoyed doing hair, watching Indiana University basketball and spending time with her family.

Funeral services: 2 p.m. EST Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Terry Goodwin; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services on Friday. Contributions may be made in Nora's memory to the Cayuga American Legion Scholarship Fund, 922 W. Ferry Street, Cayuga, IN 47928. Condolences:
