Nancy E. Allen Strong (Shug) was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Morganfield, Ky., to the late Reginald Allen and Carrie A. Allen (Boone).

Nancy graduated from the Dunbar High School in Morganfield. She was employed at Quaker Maid and Columbia House, where she worked for numerous years and retired. Nancy accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at the Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church in Morganfield. After relocating to Terre Haute, Ind., she united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member of the Mother's Board and Senior Choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert B. Strong Sr.; son, Albert B. Strong Jr.; and granddaughter, Carrie E. Tompkins.

Nancy leaves fond memories to be cherished by her four sons, Reuban Strong Sr., Marvin (Sheila) Strong of Terre Haute, Reginald (Lynn) Strong of Indianapolis, and Edward Strong of Terre Haute; three daughters, Brenda Strong of Terre Haute, Cheryll Carson of Indianapolis and Sherry (James) Hughley of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Jessie L. (Joseph Sr.) Lowery; 27 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Joseph (Kelly) Lowery Jr. and Michael (Barbara) Lowery; two loving daughters-in-law, Marilyn Strong and Linda Strong; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services are Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018. at 1 p.m. in the St. John M. B. C., 1915 Buckeye, with the calling from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the church. Interment in the Highland Lawn Cemetery with Russell Funeral Home assisting.
