Rosedale, Indiana - ROSEDALE - Myron Smith Jr., 96, of Rosedale, passed away Monday, September 2, 2019, at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana. He was born on April 4, 1923, to Myron R. Smith and Clotine Bartley Smith.
He was a graduate of Rockville High School and then served in WW II with the U.S. Army. On August 22, 1947, he married Betty Jean Hubbard, and she preceded him in death on February 9, 1999.
During his lifetime he was always a farmer, but also worked for Farm Bureau Co-Op in Rockville and Montezuma. He served as Parke County assessor and was an owner-operator bus driver for over 37 years. He's a member of VFW in Terre Haute and American Legion Post #290 in Rosedale.
Myron is survived by 5 children, Carolyn Osborn, Vicki Keltz, Conrad Smith, David W. Smith and William Russell Smith. He also has 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Linda Phillips; and brother, Thomas Smith and Special Friend, Shirley Altman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 3 brothers, Delbert, John and Robert; and 4 sisters, Norma Loden, Betty Wright, Emily McDonald and Sue Paddock.
Visitation is Saturday, September 7, 2019, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, 111 East High Street, Rockville. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday with burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Catlin, Indiana.
