Mickey Walker Obituary

Mickey Walker, 85, of Rosedale, passed away with family by his side Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018. He was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Terre Haute, to the late Clarence "Mickey" Walker and Ellen McGilvrey Walker.

Mickey served in the United States Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was an atomic veteran engaged in Operation Red Wing in 1956. He was a member of Local 18 Heat and Frost Engineers since 1950. Mickey belonged to the Rosedale United Methodist Church, where he served as president of the church board for five years. He was elected to the Rosedale Town Council for three terms, where he served as president and served as Parke County Republican Party Florida 1 Precinct Committeemen for several years. Mickey was very active in Civil War Re-Enacting, American Legion, where he was a member of Mooresville Post 103, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Voiture 21 of the 40/8, and Sons of Confederate Veteran's. This past May he was an honoree of the Indy Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Walker; three daughters, Kimberly Estes of Mooresville, Mrs. Pam (Jon) Adams of Montezuma and Mrs. Michele (Dennis) Snellgrose of Rosedale; six grandchildren, Michael Adams of Montezuma, Jennifer (Justin) Hendrixson of Plainfield, Angela Snellgrose (Thomas Galloway) of Clinton, Michael (Kelsey) Snellgrose of Terre Haute, Christopher Snellgrose and Patrick Snellgrose of Terre Haute; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Galloway, Nicholas Hendrixson, and Cassidy Galloway; one brother, Mr. Harry Walker of Keene, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Estes; two brothers, Clarence "Buck" Walker and Arthur Walker; one sister, Arilla Jones.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, with Pastor John O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
