Merly Michelle Miner Obituary

Kirkwood, MO - Merly Michelle Miner passed away at home in Terre Haute, IN of Breast Cancer on April 12, 2025.

Merly was born December 20, 1964, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the youngest child of Ed and Claire Miner. From 1966-1981, Merly and her family lived in Malaysia where Merly attended Dalat School as a Missionary Kid.

Merly left Malaysia after her 10th grade and then lived in St. Louis, Missouri, where she graduated high school from Westminster Christian Academy. After graduation, she briefly attended Toccoa Falls College in Georgia but in 1987, she had a single-car accident that forever changed her life. Merly became a quadriplegic and after attending Shepherd's Spinal Center in Atlanta for several months of rehabilitation, she returned home to St. Louis. In spite of her limitations, she went back to college and graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and a minor in History. Merly was a member of Central Christian Church (DOC) in Terre Haute, Indiana and each week she looked forward to being a part of their Sunday service online.

Merly is survived by her companion of 30 years, Sharron R. Overby, of Terre Haute, IN; her parents, Ed and Claire Miner of Godfrey, IL; her sister, Martie (Dan) Buck of Godfrey, IL; her sister-in-law, Viviane (Mark) Shady of Toccoa, GA; her aunt, Dianna (Bill) Knight of Brush Prairie, WA; her aunt, Barbara Truax of St. Louis, MO; cousins and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Merly was preceded in death by her brother, Matt Miner; her maternal grandparents, William and Anna Stoll; her paternal grandparents, Frank and Hester Miner; and her two aunts, Carol Stoll and Audrey Gardiner.

Funeral Services will be held April 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Kirkwood (St. Louis, MO) with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirkwood, MO.
