Terre Haute, IN - Navy Veteran, Melvin "Skip" E. Evans, Jr., 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 in his residence. He was born December 22, 1944 in Terre Haute to Melvin E. Evans, Sr. and Gertrude E. Boland Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Patrice Bacon Evans; sons, Christopher Evans (Brenda) and Eric Donovan (Nichole); grandchildren, Olivia Donovan (J.D. Fahnestock), Casey Bowyer (James), Mia Stoffel, Isabella Donovan, and Kaden Evans; great grandchildren, Harlow, Kingston, and Vivianne Fahnestock, and Noel Bowyer; niece, Tammy Evans Divine (Mark [mdash] deceased); and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Donna Evans.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Father Roger Vazhappilly officiating. Visitation will be prior to mass from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
