ORLANDO, Fla. - Mary Etta (Flesher) McKenzie, 90, of Orlando, Fla., and previously of Brazil, Ind., passed away on November 14, 2021 following a lengthy illness.

Mary was born February 21, 1931, in Dugger, Ind., the daughter of Oran McKinley Flesher and Laura Mae (Siner) Flesher. Mary graduated from Riley High School with the class of 1949.

She married Herman A. McKenzie on May 28, 1950; he preceded her in death December 16, 1998. Mary worked at General Housewares, Arketex, and K-Mart. She also was a caregiver for several years. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Church where she taught Sunday School.

Years after her husband Herman passed away, she reestablished a relationship with her high school sweetheart Cletus Stewart. As their relationship grew, she moved to Florida to be with him. They were married in a civil union on January 1, 2006.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oran and Laura Flesher; her husband Herman McKenzie; and siblings: Joy McKenzie, Ralph Flesher, Floyd Flesher, Leo Flesher, and Joan Farmer.

She leaves behind her husband Cletus Stewart; 3 children: Diana York of Greencastle, Tonia Heady (David) of Terre Haute, and Jeffrey McKenzie of Terre Haute; grandchildren: Tabitha Wright (James), Jarrod Heady, and Angela Garl (Jacob); and great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Wright, Lauryn Wright, Remington Garl, Maddelyn Garl, Maverick Garl, and Eleanor Garl; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, IN 47834 on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Services will follow at the funeral home at 1:00 with her nephew Alan Farmer officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary VanCleve Cemetery.
