Marlena Jo Ladd Johnson-Hill was born December 7, 1954, in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was the second of three daughters born to Marcellus Henry and Anne Laura Taylor Ladd. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Union Hospital.
Marlena was educated in the Vigo County School System where she was a member of the first graduating class of Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1972. Her educational journey continued at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, class of 1976.
She was formerly employed by Columbia House, M & G Logistics, Eli Lilly Clinton and her current employer GE Aviation. She was a faithful member of Saints Home Church of God in Christ and served in the church realm and community on various committees and organizations.
Marlena was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, beloved children, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer (Jason) Mathews, San Antonio, Texas; son, Marlin Hill, Terre Haute, Indiana; sisters, Marsha Ladd, Terre Haute, Indiana, and Marla Crawford, Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandchildren, grandson, Austin, and granddaughter, Jordan Mathews, San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Michael Crawford II, Indianapolis, Indiana; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019. Viewing will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 9 to 11 a.m., and the celebration of life service will begin at 11 a.m. All services will be held at Saints Home Church of God in Christ, 2210 N. 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Russell Funeral Home. In her memory, the Marlena Johnson-Hill Scholarship Fund has been set up at 5/3 Bank in honor of Marlena's continual support of higher education.
