St. Mary-of-the-Woods, IN - ST. MARY-OF-THE-WOODS - Sister Marilyn Trobaugh died on May 18, 2025, in Providence Health Care. She was born on February 18, 1936 in Lafayette, IN, to Robert and Dorothy Vianco Trobaugh and was baptized Marilyn June.

Sister Marilyn entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on Jan. 4, 1954 and received the name Sister Robert Louise. She professed Perpetual Vows Aug, 15, 1961. She earned a bachelor's degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master's degree from Ball State University.

Of her 71 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered in elementary schools in Indiana for 14 years, the last 3 years of which she served as principal. She then left teaching and dedicated her secretarial, administrative and business skills for the next 17 years in ministry to several institutions in Indianapolis. In 1997, she came to the motherhouse to serve in the Central Business Office for the next 20 years. Retiring from full-time ministry, she still continued to serve as treasurer for the sisters in Lourdes Hall. Beginning in 2024, she devoted herself totally to the ministry of prayer.

Sister Marilyn was a capable, generous, and caring person. She was a faithful friend to many, always serving in a quiet way.

Sister Marilyn is survived by a brother, William Trobaugh of Sebastian, FL. She is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Martin.

The wake is on Wednesday, May 28, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with the Wake Service at 4:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial is on Thursday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Ron Ashmore presiding. Burial is in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence. DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted with arrangements.
