Marilyn Irene Neuman, 78, of Perrysville, passed away at 8:35 a.m. EDT Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Providence Health Care in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She was born May 23, 1937, in Parke County, the daughter of the late Homer Fremont and Oveda Clara (Newnum) Russell.

Marilyn married Robert E. Neuman on Oct. 11, 1958, at Rush Creek Church in Tangier. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2001.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Jo Cohen of Perrysville; two grandchildren, Jacob A. Cohen and Sarah L. Cohen, both of Perrysville; one sister, Betty (Mike) Lanke of Terre Haute; one brother, Robert (Ann) Russell of Tangier; special cousin, Carol Marshall of Cayuga; sister-in-law, Dee Sprague of Tilton, Ill.; brothers-in-law, George Miller of Georgetown, Ill., and Richard Neuman of Danville, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Phillip Scott Cohen; and special friend, Faye Lilley.

Marilyn was a graduate of the Lakeview School of Nursing. She retired as a RN after 46 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Tangier High School. Marilyn was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville, National Iris Society, Master Gardeners, Red Hat, Widows Mite and the Christians Fellowship Class. Her many hobbies included watching NASCAR and her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, L.A. Lakers basketball, Green Bay Packers football, mission trips (Master Provisions), gardening, raising iris flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. EDT/10 a.m. CDT Monday, March 21, 2016, at Second Church of Christ in Danville, with John Graves officiating. Burial is in Songer Cemetery in Tilton. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. EDT/3 to 7 p.m. CDT today, March 20, 2016, at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
