Marilyn Auman Gau Obituary
Marilyn Joan Auman Gau, 85, of Bloomingdale, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Detroit, to the late Elmer Marklewitz and Mary Margaret Larkin Marklewitz.
Her husband of 35 years, originally from Clinton, James Lee Auman Sr., whom she married March 25, 1952, preceded her in death May 14, 1987.
She graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with an associate degree and worked as a secretary for Child Adult Resource Service (CARS) until she retired and married her second husband, Andrew "Andy" Gau on Aug. 26, 1995, and preceded her in death April 30, 2014, in Nashville, Mich. Marilyn was a person who loved to laugh and joke around. She was a member of the Moose lodge in Clinton and Hastings, Mich. She enjoyed knitting, needlework, crossword puzzles and crafts that she and Andy made with his woodworking and took them to flea markets.
Survivors include four children, Peggy (Lloyd Harper) Auman of Bloomingdale, John (Lisa) Auman of Charlotte, N.C., Robert "Bob" (Wendy) Auman of Tega Cay, S.C., and Paula (Sam) Hill of Rockville. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren with two on the way in August.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jim and Bill Auman; and her brother, Tom Marklewitz.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. Greg Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
