Marilu Schwartz, 96, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026 in Majestic Care of Terre Haute. She was born May 19, 1930 in Brazil, IN to Joe Van Deren and Faye Jackson Van Deren.
Survivors include her sons, Matthew Schwartz and Marc Schwartz (Tina); grandchildren, Adrienne Schwartz, Sophia Schwartz, and Bryn Schwartz (Faith); great granddaughter, Ava Schwartz; and nephews, Van Nation and Dirk Nation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Schwartz; her parents; and sister, Jorita Nation.
Marilu was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was a volunteer and honorary member of the Service League of Union Hospital. She lived a full life for 96 years with great family and friends who will cherish her memory.
There are no services or visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
