Louise Johnson passed away peacefully at 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2017. Louise was born in Bonn, Germany, on March 17, 1927, to Wilhelm and Laura Schmickler. She was one of 11 children.
Louise came to the United States in 1955. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital for 17 years, with most of that time spent as supervisor of Respiratory Therapy. She then worked in the infirmary for the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary of the Woods, until her retirement in 1992.
Louise will be remembered as being a gracious host, a connoisseur of roses, and having a passion for the finest German chocolates.
She is survived by several siblings still living in Germany; two daughters, Ilona (Mouse) Hearin of Terre Haute, and Ev Johnson-Sanders of Lakeville, Minn.; two granddaughters, Traci (Frank) Foley of Michigan, and Carly (Carl) Numrich of Minnesota; and two great-grandchildren, John and Sara Foley.
Cremation was chosen with Simple Cremations in charge of arrangements. There will be no service as per her wishes.
