Clay City, Indiana - CLAY CITY - Loretta Ruth Miller, 85, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care on January 27, 2021.
Loretta was born on May 15, 1935, in Clay County, Indiana, the daughter of Wallace and Martha (Hepler) Kress. She graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1953 as the valedictorian of the class. She married Russell Miller on March 30, 1956. He preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage.
She was a member of the Clay City First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed going swimming at the YWCA, in Terre Haute, and going shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their extracurricular activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Martha Kress; her husband Russell Miller Sr.; a daughter Debra A. Brothers; and a brother Edward Kress.
Survivors include her children: Lana Reed and husband Jeff of Clay City, Lora Alsip and husband Gary of Brazil, Russell Miller Jr. and wife Lori of Clay City, and Amy Barnhart and husband Nick of Clay City; grandchildren: Emily Hauser (Sean), Stephanie Bragg (Joel), Abby Tiefel (Jake), Eric Alsip, Jennifer Elstro (Mark), Sloan Jenkins (Tyler), Allie Strunk (Chuck), and Claire Miller, Lynlee Barnhart, and Quincee Barnhart; great-grandchildren: Marshall Elstro, Trey Jenkins, and Victoria Jenkins; and sisters: Patty Archer (Robert) of Terre Haute and Marilyn Reed of Greencastle; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 11am until time of services. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay City First United Methodist Church, 610 Washington Street, Clay City, IN 47841.
