Terre Haute, IN - TERRE HAUTE - Lois M. (Harris) Whitkanack, 79, of Southern Vigo County passed away on April 3, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on May 20, 1945 in Fairbanks, Indiana to Paul and Margaret (Holecek) Harris.

She married Walter D. Whitkanack in June of 1964. Together they had three children. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, nights that were spent at the race track and watching the cardinal birds outside her window.

She is survived by her daughter Deanne Hayhurst (Harvey); son Troy Whitkanack (Linda); brother Marvin Harris; sister Carol "Jeanie" Jenkins; grandchildren Jeremy Whitkanack (Maranda), Tasha Robbins (Ryan), Hannah Greenwell (Trent), Lilly Whitkanack, and Jimmy Seaton (Brittaney); and great-grandchildren Easton, Oakley, Bristol, Hadlee, and Brooklyn. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Walter D. Whitkanack; son Gary Lee Whitkanack; both parents; and sisters Rosemary Fuson, Marjorie Thomas, and Cecelia Barbee.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Ransford officiating. Burial will follow at Watson Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to:
