Centerpoint, Indiana - CENTER POINT - Linda Grace (Decker) Moreau, 88, of Center Point and formerly of Daviess County, Indiana passed away while at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care on February 17, 2025.

Linda was born on August 18, 1936, in Brazil, Indiana, the daughter of Dr. Joseph and Lucille (Laverty) Decker. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1954.

Linda served as a 4-H leader for 6 years. She owned and operated Lucille's Dress Shop, helped on a Duroc Hog farm for many years, and helped to raise and show registered hogs all over the nation [mdash] even shipping to Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, and Canada. Linda spent 16 years on the Indiana State Fair Board as a Director representing 21 counties. She served under Governors Robert Orr, Evan Bayh, and Frank O'Bannon. She was rewarded with two Sagamore of the Wabash awards for programs she designed at the State Fair, plus the Home and Family Arts Building. She designed the Highlight Sale for the Commodities of 4-H. Her duties included the Horticulture Building, FFA, Concessions, Little Miss and Mister Contest, Entertainment, and Youth Showcase. Her parade floats designed each year were outstanding.

She was a State Fair Board Director when she met Col. Donald Moreau. They married on October 11, 1993.

Together, annually they traveled on mission work for the Rotary Club to Jamaica over a 4-year period. She then helped Don establish the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation in Indianapolis, helping homeless veterans to find their way again with the help of the Roudebush VA Program.

She owned and operated Decker Dolls for several years. She was a Chairperson of the Democratic Party in Daviess County and Clay County. Linda served as the organist at Plainville Christian Church for 13 years.

She served with Daughters of the American Revolution Eliza Risley Stacey Chapter as Treasurer and then Chapter Regent.

Linda was a devout Christian woman. She would always tell the children to "keep it between the lines and never forget whose you are." She was also a member of the Emmaus Community. Her legacy will be continued by the many lives that she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dr. Joseph Decker and Lucille; husband Col. Donald Moreau; siblings: June Atkinson and Tom Decker; and stepdaughter Suzanne Moreau.

She is survived by her children: Joseph Dierdorf (Diane), Dee Dierdorf Smiley (Doug), and Ann Long Hine (Brian); her time with all her grandchildren was so special: Madison York, Cade Hine, Joey Dierdorf (Paige), Molly Tipton (Shaun), Robert Smiley (Yanira), and Emily Litz (Jay); great-grandchildren: Elle Tipton, Owen Tipton, Olivia Smiley, Everett Smiley, Ian Litz, and Eva Litz; great-great-grandchildren: Oscar Smiley and Greyson York; stepson D. William Moreau (Ann); step-grandchildren: Victoria Moreau, Stephene VandenBrink (Kevin), Rashid Hallaway (Katie), Katherine Moreau (Daniel Boritt), and Elizabeth Lusink (Baxter); step-great-grandchildren: William, Anna and James Hogston; Samuel, Benjamin, and Alia VandenBrink; Barrett and Parker Hallaway; Henry and Leo Boritt; Annie and Mary Thompson Lusink; nephew Brian Atkinson; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., Brazil, IN 47834, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Services will be at the funeral home, on Wednesday, at 1:00 PM with burial to follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.
