TERRE HAUTE - Lillie J. Kindler, 98, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on February 12, 2021.

Lillie was born on November 30, 1922, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the oldest of the 5 children of John and Mamye (Morgan) Jubin. She graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1939 and then attended Southeastern Louisiana College.

She married Charles McClelland. Together they had a daughter, Charlene. After several years of marriage they divorced. Later Lillie married Arthur C. Kindler. Together they had 2 children: Jeanne and John.

After raising her children she went to work for Mayor Pete Chalos as his secretary. She enjoyed her 16 years of working as his secretary and serving the community.

When she wasn't working she enjoyed reading and working word puzzles. Lillie was a proud southerner and loved spending time with her Louisiana family.

Lillie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, loving sister, and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mamye Jubin; her husband Arthur C. Kindler; siblings: Helen Owens, John "Bud" Jubin Jr., and Eugenia "Sis" DeMars; and grandsons Michael Parks and John Kindler Jr..

She is survived by her children Charlene Lukas and husband Gary of Oregon, Jeanne Conley and husband Brian of Terre Haute, and John Kindler and wife Bobbie of Florida; grandchildren: Gara Murk (Nathan), Daniel Conley (Terri), Christopher Conley, Michael Conley (Megan), and Mary Elizabeth Kohr (Jacob); great-grandchildren: Sydney Murk, River Murk, Erica Conley, and Andrew Conley; a sister, Lee Loving of Georgia; and a dear friend Shelva "Butch" Warner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
