PARIS, Ill. - Letha Mae Augustus, 102, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 1:28 p.m. EDT Friday, November 1, 2019, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Mrs. Augustus was born on October 27, 1917, in rural Edgar County, the daughter of the late James and Clova (Flinn) Staley. She married Everett R. Augustus November 10, 1935, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 1986.
She is survived by her three children, Paul (Nancy) Augustus of West Terre Haute, Ind., Doris (Mike) Lau of Paris, formerly of Ramsey, Ill., and Rita Goodman of Paris; grandchildren, Jeff (Bekah) Augustus of West Terre Haute, Ind., Keith (Stephanie) Augustus of Georgetown, Ill., Kevin (Joyce) Augustus of Paris, Brian (Andrea) Lau of Paris, Jennifer (Tony) Campbell of Dennison, Ill., Julie (Mike) Garver of Paris, and Phil (Linda) Goodman of Flat Rock, Ill.; and great-grandchildren, Nathan (Ciara), Ethan, Lauren, Jessica, Brandon, Jordan, Timothy, Tyler, Mercy, and Lily Augustus, Valerie (Devyn) Chapman, Everett Lau, Matthew and Emily Campbell, Jacob (Maggie) and Aaron Garver, and Thomas and Emma Goodman.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Ora Staley, Claud Staley, and Orla "Mac" Staley; and sisters, Lenna White and Fern May.
Letha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed vacationing, spending time with family, and taking care of others. She will be remembered for her faith, excellent cooking, and sense of humor.
She was an active member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, where she served in various positions within the church and the women's organization.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Providence Presbyterian Church.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris, with the Reverend Jeff Augustus officiating. Burial will follow at New Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
