Lafayette, IN - In Loving Memory of Kevin L. Mize

Kevin L. Mize of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. He was born in Hammond, Indiana, on February 13, 1968, to the late Samuel and Sharon (Copeland) Mize.

Kevin was formerly married to Patty Staniszewski. Although their marriage ended in divorce, Patty now resides in Galien, Michigan. Kevin was known for his reserved and gentle nature. He found his greatest joy on Lake Michigan, fishing with family and friends. These moments on the water, especially alongside his late father, brought him enduring peace and comfort. The gentle waves and open skies always filled him with serenity and quiet joy.

In addition to fishing, Kevin enjoyed mushroom hunting with friends, often sharing laughter and stories during their outings. He was a devoted Michigan Wolverines fan and took delight in celebrating their victories over Ohio State during the past four years. Despite valuing his privacy, Kevin's sincerity and warmth were evident to those who knew him. Like his father, he had a gift for making friends wherever he went.

Kevin is survived by his four brothers: Harold Mize of Lafayette, Indiana; Curt Mize of Boswell, Indiana; Rodney Frederick of Terre Haute, Indiana; and Brian (Amy) Mize of Wiesbaden, Germany. He is also survived by his two sisters, Debbie (Jim) Moyars of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Felicia (Terry) Shaffer of Paris, Illinois. In addition, Kevin leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews, along with many friends who were like family to him.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
