Indiana - Kenneth Ray Newlin, 68, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017.
He was born in Terre Haute, on Aug. 11, 1948; he was the son of Ernest K. and Rose McCauley Newlin.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Smith; and brother, Tim Newlin. Also surviving are his nieces, Nele Reisinger and Amy Tickle; and his nephews, Brian Smith and Jared Smith. He also is survived by great-nieces and nephews; as well as his "special encourager," Noah; and several cousins.
Kenny was a graduate of Wiley High School, attended Ivy Tech and was most proud of his time learning at St. Meinrad's Seminary. He retired after 25 years of service at Union Hospital and was a member of St. Joseph's University Parish. Kenny's passion was to spread the word of the Catholic church.
There will be a mass to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at St. Joseph University Parish (113 S. Fifth St.), with the Rev. Friar Mark Weaver O.F.M. Conv. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till time of services.
Simple Cremations and Burials is in charge of Kenny's wish for cremation.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or St. Joseph University Catholic Church.
