Keith Newlin of Bloomingdale, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Union Hospital in Clinton. He was born Nov. 6, 1946, in Clinton, the son of Don and Kate Newlin. His wife of 47 years, Linda Newlin, whom he married Nov. 16, 1968, survives.

He was a 1964 graduate of Turkey Run High School and graduated from Indiana State University. He served in the Indiana National Guard as lieutenant. He retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections after 28 years of service. He was the girls high school softball coach at Turkey Run from 1989-1998. During that time they compiled eight conference titles (72-O), five sectional titles, three regional titles, one semi-state title, and one of the last state championships before class systems. The 1996 State team was the smallest school to win a State Championship since 1954 (Milan).

Additional survivors include his mother, Kate Newlin of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Kendal (Justin) Jeffers of Bloomingdale and Kim (Marcus) Myers of Clayton; six grandchildren, Shelby Crum, Lauryn Jeffers, Jentre Jeffers, Owen Myers, Riese Myers and Hank Myers; one brother, Jerry (Vickie) Newlin of Bloomingdale; two nieces, Stacey (Doug) Falls of Mecca and Marci (Mark) Graves of Bloomingdale; one great-niece, Gabby Falls; and one great-nephew, Jerrid Graves. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Newlin.

He was a member of the Bloomingdale Christian Church and served as the president of the Bloomingdale Youth Association for many years. He enjoyed coaching and watching his grandkids in their many activities.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Craig Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Bloomingdale Friends Cemetery.
