Julia Powell Blair, age 93, of Terre Haute, Indiana, and formerly of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at her residence. Born May 7, 1923, in Wayne County, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late William Leslie and Edith Y. (McEndree) Powell.

Mrs. Blair was a 1940 graduate of Harter Stanford Township High School in Flora, Illinois, and attended Eastern Illinois University for two years. She was a bookkeeper for Larsson, Woodyard and Henson in Paris, Illinois, for 25 years; and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Paris, where she was an active member of the Women's Association and served as financial secretary and treasurer for 18 years.

After moving to Westminster Village in 1997 she attended Central Presbyterian Church in Terre Haute. Also at Westminster, she helped as a volunteer in the Village Store for a few years and served on the library committee.

She married Wendell Austin Blair on Aug. 16, 1942, in Flora, Illinois. Mr. Blair passed away March 21, 2009.

Survivors include four children, Arnold (Nancy) Blair of Champaign, Illinois, Leslie (Jayne) Blair of Danville, Virginia, Byron (Diana) Blair of Bloomington, Illinois, and Susan (James) Farris of Paris, Illinois; a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Floyd of Charleston, Illinois; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Lenora Thompson.

Visitation for Mrs. Blair will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
