Joni Mathas Stevens, 46, of Mecca, and formerly of Montezuma, died at 2:17 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She had been employed by Dormeyer Industries and the Pizza Hut, both in Rockville and Auto Zone in Danville, Ill. She was born June 23, 1970, in Terre Haute, to Joseph L. Myers and Janet Clark Myers.

On Aug. 26, 2016, she married Jody Stevens and he survives. Also surviving, her parents of Montezuma; one son, Luther (Kyla Kirby) Mathas of Montezuma; one daughter, Robin Mathas of Montezuma; one sister, Angie (Michael) Dickey of Montezuma; two nieces, Elizabeth "EB" Dickey and Sara Dickey; and one nephew, Caleb Dickey.

She was a 1989 graduate of Riverton Parke High School. She was a member of the Montezuma Christian Church and Montezuma Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with Pastor Greg Goodrick officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Montezuma.
