John Wesley Witters Obituary
PARIS, Ill. - John Wesley Witters, 86, of Paris, passed away Nov. 28, 2016. He was retired from District Five of the Illinois Department of Transportation, after a civil engineering career of almost 40 years.
He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Coles County, Ill., the son of Anson and Edith (Charlesworth) Witters. He married Freida Wood on July 17, 1953, and she survives.
Other survivors include a son, John Mark (Beth) Witters of Tucker, Ga.; a daughter, Betsy Lynn (Louie) Curl of Centralia; two brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Witters of Lighthouse Point, Fla., and Charles Witters of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Norma (Loren) Klaus of Glen Carbon, Jeanne Thomas of Charleston, and Joyce (Tim) Bennett of Chesterfield, Mo.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry K. Witters; and a brother, Gary Witters.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or to Paris Community Hospital.
Services celebrating his life will be conducted at 2 p.m. CST Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Tomich officiating. Burial will follow in Edgar Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Templeton Funeral Home. Additional information and online condolences at:
