ROCKVILLE - John Richard White, born May 12, 1923, to William L. and Amanda Loose White, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021. He married Jane McCampbell November 22, 1946; she preceded him in death.
He graduated from Wiley High School in 1941, and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 1947. John served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Social Lodge #86, Scottish Rite, Zorah Shrine, Elks, National Society of Professional Engineers, American Federation of Musicians, Local 25, and member of Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder for 12 years.
He served on the Parke County Zoning and Planning Commission. He was employed for 35 years as Associate Director of Physical Facilities at Indiana State University.
John loved music and played with many bands in the community. He also loved woodworking, fishing, bird-watching, his cats, and especially his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by 4 children: Elizabeth Ann Frank (Jeffrey), John Robert White (Linda), Barbara White (Barney McClelland), and Mary White Delany (James); 8 grandchildren, Samora Frank Jones (Michael), Kimberly White Bessler (Mark), Christine White Fledderman (Kurt), Clinton White (Anne), Nathan Frank (Lauren), Molly Delaney, Meghan Delaney, and Mackenzie Delaney. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren: Brooke and Brenna Fledderman, Mackenna and Garrett Besler, Jonas and Juno Jones, Grace White, and Dorothy and Micah Frank.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Mary Caroline Gwin.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been chosen and care entrusted to Barnes and Rice Funeral Home of Rockville.
