Richmond, KY - RICHMOND, Ky. - Following a lengthy illness, JoAnn C. Hayden passed away peacefully at age 80 on October 16, 2025 at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY. She was with her family at her passing.

An avid reader and lover of books, particularly historical fiction, JoAnn worked in the libraries of West Vigo High School and Indiana State University. Early in her career, she was employed in the Admissions office of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.

JoAnn was an energetic volunteer, serving the Hospitality Committee of St. Benedict's Church, where she was a lifelong member, and was a sponsor of the West Vigo High School Chapter of Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD). JoAnn had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, houseplants and baking.

Following the death of her loving husband of more than fifty years, John C. Hayden, eleven years ago, JoAnn moved from Indiana to Richmond, KY to reside near family.

She is survived by her son, Rob Hayden, and daughter, Holly Hayden Marshall; four beloved grandchildren: Hayden E. Garland, Ray Adkins, Eli Hayden and Ian Hayden; Sisters-of-the-Heart: Donna Glodjo and the late June Anderson; a beloved niece, Christi Smith, and great-nephew, Victor Smith-Bartley; and siblings: Marilyn Fagg, Jerry Judson and Janelle Smith.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Lakes Funeral Home, Berea, KY and a funeral mass will be held on Oct. 29, 2025, at 12:05 pm at St. Benedict's Church, Terre Haute, IN.
