Jo Anne Beard, 67, of Marshall, IL passed away 5:45 AM Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 at her home after being diagnosed with cancer just a few days ago.

She was born June 14, 1955, at Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of William Eugene and Marilyn Miller Maurer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph.

Surviving are two sons, Scott (Jenny) Beard and Benjamin Beard, both of Marshall; two grandchildren, Jacob Beard and Rachel Beard; a sister, Linda Maurer of Marshall; and a brother, Bill (Susan) Maurer of Marshall.

She was a graduate of Marshall High School and received her Master's Degree from Indiana State University. She had taught in the Marshall school district and later became a principal in the Casey, IL school district.

Jo loved to travel and garden, and loved animals, but most importantly, she loved spending time with family. A lifelong dream of hers was to open a dining facility and she was the original owner of the Main Street Supper Club in Marshall.

A memorial service in honor of her life will be 5:00 PM Saturday, Nov. 26, at Pearce Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 3:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
