ROCKVILLE - Jean C. Birch, 89, of Rockville, Indiana passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She retired with 30 years of local government work in Parke County.

She was born June 22, 1932 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Eugene R. Good and Florence Reebs Good.

Her husband of 51 years, Douglas Dale Birch whom she married November 24, 1950 in Mecca, preceded her in death November 25, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Lee Ann (Greg) Aronson of Bloomington; one brother, Charles W. Good of Apopka, Florida; two sisters, Laraine Good Frost of Loveland, Colorado and Sarah Good Wilson of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jennifer L. Schmitt, Jan M. Buttry, Michelle J. Cassady and Shane D. Russell; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. On December 28, 1995 she was preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa L. "Terri" Russell; granddaughter, Jessica Ann Russell; and son-in-law, Richard "Dick" Russell; also preceded in death by sister, Judith Good Hoefer; and great-grandson, Samuel D. Kemmerling.

She was the last living graduate of Mecca High School class of 1950.

She was an active member of the Rockville First United Methodist Church, joining the church in 1983, and attended multiple Bible studies over the years. She worked in many capacities for the church serving as president of United Methodist Women and as financial secretary.

She was a 52-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #177 in Rockville where she served as Worthy Matron in 1981; and later joined and remains a current member of Chapter #255 in Greencastle. She served as Mother Advisor and Grand Deputy for Assembly #43 of Rainbow for Girls of Rockville.

She enjoyed playing games, especially euchre with friends.

Services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, August 4, at Rockville First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Market Street, Rockville, with Pastor Jon Overbey officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12 noon Wednesday, August 4, at the church.
