James Peter Petrulis of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away January 9, 2020 after a long illness. Jim was born March 2, 1957 in Washington, D.C. to Stanley Duris Petrulis and Ethel Louise (Stanek) Petrulis, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by brother Robert Petrulis, sister Elizabeth Petrulis and her husband Ned Tennis, his aunts Audrey Gerlach and Elizabeth Bettin, his nieces Sarah Petrulis, Erynn Petrulis and Darcy Jones and many cherished cousins.

Jim was a musician and adventurer who was very skilled with his hands. Many of his friends referred to him simply as "JP" which adorned the pottery he created. Those hand skills were also put to use as an orthodontics technician. As a drummer in numerous rock and country music bands, he was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame.

Among his adventures was a share in a mine claim in Montana where his love of rock and fossil collecting was able to flourish. Jim also loved being on the water, whether it was in his ski-boat, where his dog of twenty years, "Bro," often accompanied him, or in his canoe. He also loved hiking and camping as well as entertaining at home with his countless cookouts. In addition, JP earned a black belt in Taekwondo.

Bob, Lisa and Ned would like to thank his second family at Westridge Health Care and his hospice caregivers who share in the loss of this special man.

A reception and sharing of memories will be held from 2:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 215 North 7th Street, Terre Haute, IN. Enter through the garden where the cremains were interred in a private ceremony officiated by The Reverend Drew Downs. Cremation was under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Home.
