James "Mike" Myers, 76, of Montezuma, died at 3:10 PM Thursday, October 10, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born October 27, 1942, to Marjorie Braner Myers and Luther Myers.

He is survived by his wife Nellie Banta Myers; two sons, Michael Shawn Myers of Clinton and Toby (Colleen) Sanders of Montezuma; two daughters, Melissa Glad of South Bend and their daughter Angela Sanders Bullington, who preceeded him in death; four grandsons, Cody Sanders, Hunter and Evan James and Shane Glad; and three granddaughters, Meghan Bullington (Ben Cunningham), Lilly and Sophie Sanders. He is survived by one sister, Sandra Lacy; and one sister-in-law, Janet Myers; along with many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Joseph L. Myers and sister Victoria Pharr.

Mike graduated from Montezuma High School in 1960. He attended Purdue University in 1961, worked for INDOT and began farming in 1972. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 6 years. He was a timber buyer and owned his own timber business.

Mike loved his family, friends, farming, fishing and collecting treasures and junk, in that order. He is fondly remembered as always telling stories and making people laugh.

He was a lifelong Democrat and served as the Parke County Democratic Chairman from 1990 to 2000. He was a member of the Montezuma Fish and Game Club, the Rockville American Legion, and the Rockville Amvets.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mike and Nellie Myers Family Fund at Parke County Community Foundation or the Wabash Ramblers 4-H Club, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Brown-Mack Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday. Cremation will follow services. Online condolences may be made at:
