James H. "Jim" Hobbs, 85, of Marshall, Ind., passed away at 10:27 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born at home, June 10, 1933, in Waggoner, Ill., to the late O.B. Hobbs and Lucy Ann Fee Hobbs.

He was a retired building electrician from R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Crawfordsville with more than 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Lucille Ball Hobbs, whom he married Oct. 19, 1952, in Judson, and passed away Jan. 20, 2015.

Survivors include four sons, Richard L. Hobbs (Bonnie L.) of Marshall, Gary N. Hobbs (Roberta J.) of Marshall, David W. Hobbs (Lisa J.) of Lafayette and James Dennis Hobbs (Pamela W.) of Marshall; nine grandchildren, Laurie B. (Collin) Harbison, Ryan A. (Meaghan E.) Hobbs, Lauren (Kyle) Harbison, Casey Hobbs, David M. (Bailey M.)Hobbs, Elizabeth L. (fiance Jared Feltner) Hobbs, Katherin Elise (Michael) Mauntel, Olivia Anne (Jeff) Kessinger and James Isaac (Kelsey Grace) Hobbs; 16 great-grandchildren; niece, Louise (Earl) Shirar of Fort Wayne. He was the last of seven brothers and one sister.

He was a 1951 graduate of Marshall High School and served from 1952 to 1954 with the U.S. Army in England. He was a member and ordained deacon of the Marshall Baptist Church. He actively attended sporting events at Turkey Run High School for many years. He enjoyed vacationing and fishing at Hilton Head, S.C. and Marco Island, Fla.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at Marshall Baptist Church, 209 East Guion Road, Marshall, with visitation one hour before services and the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville.
