Terre Haute, Indiana - TERRE HAUTE - Reverend James "Jim" B. Haddix, 78, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born in Middletown, Ohio, on August 12, 1947, Jim - affectionately known as "Jimmy" - was the son of Leck and Dorothy Haddix and the youngest of five children. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Electrical Engineering and served in the U.S. Army Reserves as both a telephone lineman specialist and later a chaplain's assistant.

Answering a call to ministry, he earned his Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary and went on to serve as a pastor for more than 40 years. In 1977, he founded Grace Baptist Church in Terre Haute, where he ministered faithfully until his retirement. In 1985, he also founded Grace Baptist Christian School, extending his passion for serving children through Christian education.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leck and Dorothy Haddix; his first wife of 35 years, Louise Collins Haddix; brothers, William (Bill) and Lawrence Haddix; and sisters, Oma and Opal.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Haddix; son, Timothy (Karina) Haddix; grandsons, Aiden and Andrew; and his brother-in-law, Burl Hogg; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be Monday, September 8, from 4-7 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 1209 N. 19th Street, Terre Haute, with Pastor Jeremy Coombes officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
