Jack Dean Knust Obituary
Jack Dean Knust, 88, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, February 27, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Clay County to the late Ulysses and Ruth (Stevenson) Knust.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Clay County, graduating from Cory High School in 1949 and was a proud member of the basketball team that won the 1947 Sectional Championship. On March 9, 1951, Jack married the love of his life, Winnifred McCullough. They were active members of the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, serving many roles in the church throughout the years.
Jack's love was always farming, even while working at Allis-Chalmers and Stran Steel. He was a 50+ year member of the Clay County Farm Bureau, serving on various committees, eventually holding the office of President.
One outreach that was near to Jack and Winnie's hearts was teaching youth about farming, through the "Farming in the Classroom" program. In 2004 Jack was given the Agriculture Focus Award for lifelong volunteerism and community service. He served 16 years on the Utilities District of Western Indiana R.E.M.C. Board of Directors, as well as being a member of the Clay County Drainage Board and the Center Point Masonic Lodge. When he wasn't busy on the farm or serving his community, Jack enjoyed vacations to Branson, and especially Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Muriel Knust, Renis Knust, Helen Bedwell, Kenneth Knust, Lois Oglesby and Max Knust.
